The United States Police Defensive Tactics Association

Defense Tactics AMERICA

The United States Police Defensive Tactics Association established in 1982 by a former Cuyahoga County Deputy Sheriff, Ohio Truant Officer and martial arts Master Ray Szuch. His goals were to provide police officers with a nationally recognized uniform method of defensive tactics training. Throughout its early years the USPDTA held training seminars for more than 400 police departments with memberships in nearly every state. In 2004 the USPDTA was transferred to Dr. Ric Black a former USPDTA Regional Director and Certified Trainer with more than 25 years in law enforcement and security training and a 50-year martial arts veteran. The USPDTA began its new transformation into an international organization in the summer of 2006 with expanded training programs including online classes, programs of study offering certifications and university credit, video programs on CD and DVD, Training manuals and books on various training methods and programs and a new line of apparel and gear.
